Sound Guy or Sound Man
In video, film or television it is a nickname for a male sound recordist. Not applicable in AV in my instance. I am expert in video production, television and film productions.
Audio Guy
In video, film or television it is a nickname for a male sound recordist. Somewhat dated, but still used frequently by some in production.
Audio Tech or Technician
An older term, that probably started in the 1990’s nicknaming a sound recordist. That is the most common name today for a sound engineer in video productions, television or films.

Sound Recordist
Most commonly used for a sound person whom helps mixing & recording sound for video, film or television productions. An earlier nickname would be a sound engineer.
Sound Engineer or Audio Engineer
An earlier nickname for a sound recordist would be a sound engineer. It is still used for tasks of a sound recordist. Sometimes it’s used for a sound mixer whom scores (arranges sound tracks) for feature films.
Or for an audio systems integrator. Whom build television studios in arranging audio. They can also integrate other audio systems for news trucks, satellite trucks or other needs.
Location sound mixer or production sound mixer
These can refer to the sound equipment that mixes and records or mixes audio sources. Or the sound person whom bring the audio gear and manages sound mixing and recording for video, television or film production.
They can also be used as a person for other types of media including radio or events in the equipment aspect or personnel. In my instance it’s for my expertise and my equipment in video, television and film.
Boom Operator
A person who’s task is with working a boom to track dialogue or other sounds to be mixed and recorded for a production. They are often used on a larger sound crew or can be a sound recordist mixing lavalieres and other audio sources. Often including the boom on a smaller scale production.
